As of the latest audit, the RFMF’s total personnel strength stands at 3274, including both service members and civilian staff.

Captain Lepani Vaniqi, the RFMF’s Director of Finance and Logistics, made this known while presenting to Parliament’s Public Accounts Committee yesterday.

Captain Vaniqi also announced key improvements in its operations, focusing on advancements in human resources (HR) management and fixed asset tracking.

He outlined the force’s ongoing efforts to implement an HR software system aimed at streamlining personnel data management.

This development follows issues highlighted in the 2023 audit, where the use of a manual system had led to difficulties in maintaining accurate personnel records.

The new HR software, expected to be fully operational by August 2025, will automate data updates, ensuring that personnel information is readily available for audits and management reviews.

“Previously, the RFMF tried to develop its own software, but it faced several challenges. With the new system, our goal is to keep personnel information up-to-date and accessible for verification at any time,” Captain Vaniqi said.

The committee also expressed concerns about the RFMF’s fixed asset management practices.

In response, Captain Vaniqi confirmed the completion of a comprehensive inventory and stocktake of all assets and equipment across RFMF camps and facilities.

Such process resulted in an updated fixed asset register, which has been submitted to the Ministry of Finance’s Asset Management Unit.

In line with its five-year strategic plan, the RFMF has also established a temporary military joint logistics warehouse at Laucala Beach.
