Minister for Defence and Veteran Affairs Pio Tikoduadua said a court martial on the RFNS Puamau incident will begin soon.

This follows the RFMF Board of Inquiry (BOI) finding on the incident of the grounding of the Fiji Navy vessel on June 10 at the passage entering Fulaga Island.

The BOI that investigated the grounding of RFNS Puamau found significant breaches, negligence, non-adherence in the application of professional and accepted navigation practices and mariner skills by its crew members.

Mr Tikoduadua said a court martial process would begin soon.

“People have been charged and they are going to front the court.

“There will be a decommissioning of the ship, it will be scuttled and it will be sunk,” he said.
