Rosalia Scopes Dux Award for Second Time
Aiming to one day become a nurse, she also scooped top subject prizes for physics, biology and chemistry with a total mark of 386 out of 400.

Maria ‘Rosalia’ Ratusuli added another reason to make her family proud when she was named dux of Immaculate Conception College. This was during the school’s prizegiving ceremony at Solevu in Bua last Thursday. It is the second time she has scooped a dux award.
“Rosa is a very obedient child, with good manners and a kind heart,” her aunt Sereima Dinuku said.
Rosalia, 19, is the first member of her family to scoop a dux award twice. She also received the dux award when she was attending primary school at Kubulau District School.

Originally from Nasasaivua, Kubulau, Bua with maternal links to Naiwado, Solevu in Bua, Rosalia was taken in by her aunt Sereima Dinuku after completing Year 10 so that she could have better access to her education.
Her aunt Sereima stepped in to help her dad with raising Rosalia and her siblings because they lived in a remote place, and faced challenges when going to school.
“She would not talk back or complain when she’s been tasked to do something,” aunty Sereima said.
“When she is done with her chores, she spends her time studying or reading.
“Her dedication to her studies has led to her achievement.”

The prizes included two trophies, five medals, 11 certificates, one laptop and a pack of stationery to prep her for her external exam.
