People living outside Nausori Town have been dumping rubbish in the town area during the early hours of the morning.

Special administrator Nausori Uma Kant Patel, said household kitchen wastes were seen scattered in front of Deojis Footwear in the main street and a few other places.

He said they have found that people living in rural Nausori were bringing their household refuse and putting it in the town.

“We remind businesses not to take out rubbish at night on Saturdays or any other day.

Further, rubbish is picked in the central business district only from Monday to Saturday from 8am to 9.30am.” Mr Patel said.

“It is scavenged by dogs when it’s placed at night. The council’s health department was liaising with the Ministry of Agriculture to trap stray dogs in town.
