It was an emotional day for Miliakere Nawa on Friday as she graduated from the Fiji National University (FNU) with both a Deck Hand Fishing Certificate and a Basic Sea Safety-Fishing Vessels Certificate.
At 33, this is the first time Ms Nawa has received a certificate from an educational institution bearing her name.
Hailing from Navaga Village in Koro, Lomaiviti, with maternal ties to Namuana Village in Tavuki, Kadavu, Ms Nawa also plays full-back for the Nasinu women’s rugby team.
