Sabeto District Dux Stayed Focus To Achieve Goal

It was through prayers, sacrifices and hard work that elevated Sulueti Jacqueline Joy to be the dux of Sabeto District School.

The 13-years-old from Natadala, Nadarivatu dedicated her achievement to her parents who had been her motivators.

Her father is a Seventh-day Adventist Church pastor, and her mother a school teacher. She is the eldest of three siblings.

She said when she was in Year 5, she aimed to be the dux of the school.

She said this year she had a lot of influences from her peers, but she was directed in some hard ways to focus on her goals.

“I tried very hard to focus on my studies, but I am thankful to my parents who motivated and directed me to refocus on my goals.”

“I worked hard and spent more time on studying. Sometimes I stayed up late at night studying, I started to get sick. Despite that, I didn’t give up on my goals.”

She aims to continue her high school at Natabua High School.

Her mother, Aliti Rakaria, said as parents they always monitored their children in their studies.

“We monitor them and we set up programmes to help them in their schoolwork. At the same time, we prayed for them,” she said.

“She deserves this award because she worked hard for it. We kept on pushing and kept on telling her the marks that she needs to achieve, and she made it.”

“I am so happy for her,” she said.

The chief guest, Chief operations, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Livai Driu encouraged the students on the importance of striving to excel in their studies.

“Good education leads you to a great future,” he said.
