The Ministry of Education has acknowledged that deplorable school infrastructure places schools in a difficult position when it comes to Occupational Health and Safety (OHS).
Education Minister, Aseri Radrodro made reference to a recent case involving the Nabua Primary School building where students are studying in a hazardous OHS environment.
“Initial information we got about Nabua, there are some issues on the building constructed by the previous management that was left incomplete,” Mr Radrodro said.

“That is something we currently are pursuing with the new management on how best they can complete it.
“If they need assistance from Government, they need to request through the normal process from Ministry of Education and we can see how best we assist in completing the incomplete building.”
The majority of classrooms at this school have rusted roofs, and windows without blades – big enough for students to exit.
This masthead has also reached out to the Minister for Employment, Productivity and Industrial Relations Agni Deo Singh to address the OHS concern.
Mr Singh confirmed that a team had visited the school on November 4, and a report was due to be released on November 5.
The ministry has yet to address the matter despite several follow-ups for the OHS report from this masthead.
