In a recent development, the National Fire Authority (NFA) has announced a 20 per cent increase in wages and salaries for its operations staff.

This significant boost marks the first pay raise since 2017, when the last increment was implemented.

Minister for Local Government, Maciu Nalumisa, highlighted the importance of this adjustment in recognising and supporting the important work of NFA employees.

Mr Nalumisa said the strategy was to recognise the hard work done by the authority and its employees and provide a just reward for their commitment and unwavering support to the authority’s operational plan.

“Government has embarked on ensuring staff empowerment, technical training, and development for our firefighters,” he said.

“NFA has embarked on strategic alliances that can leverage excellence in service delivery, knowledge sharing and harnessing technical superiority.”
