Salote Radrodro Trial From May 30 To June 6

It is alleged that Radrodro breached the Parliamentary Remuneration Act of 2014 when she claimed travel and accommoda­tion allowances which she was not entitled to.

Opposition Member of Parliament Salote Radrodro’s trial will be held from May 30 to June 6, 2022.

Radrodro was represented by lawyer Simi­one Valenitabua.

She appeared before High Court Judge Justice Thushara Rajasinghe on Thursday, March 3, 2022.

Justice Rajasinghe told the defence lawyer that one week was sufficient for the trial.

She is charged with one count each of giv­ing false information to a public servant and obtaining financial advantage to the to­tal value of $37,920.13 between August, 2019 and April, 2020.

It is alleged that Radrodro breached the Parliamentary Remuneration Act of 2014 when she claimed travel and accommoda­tion allowances which she was not entitled to.

The case has been adjourned for mention on April 5.
