Supervisor of Elections, Mohammed Saneem, has called out The People’s Alliance Party member Lynda Tabuya for creating confusion about voter registration venues.

Ms Tabuya was featured on a Facebook Live video yesterday in front of Ahmadiya Muslim College in Narere, Navosai questioning the Fijian Elections Office as to why members of the public were not allowed to register at the school.

“The level of Hollywoodism that has been displayed in this video is horrible,” Mr Saneem said, adding that Ms Tabuya has created more confusion to members of the public.

He stated that registration drives are held in schools to accommodate students and teachers, not the general public.

“Schools are private premises and they do not allow the entry of members of the public during school hours,” Mr Saneem said.

“Registration is directly done in secondary schools particularly this year so that we can capture students before they can break out into the tertiary fields and in the work environment.

On the video, Ms Tabuya also interviewed a man in crutches who claimed he was at the school from 8am to register.

Fijian Elections Office (FEO) staff at the school reported that the man had arrived at the school with Ms Tabuya on her Rock The Vote Fiji bus and left with her shortly after.

They also stated that the group of people shown in the video were members of Ms Tabuya’s team.

“These kinds of situation calls into question the credibility of the people posting the video,” Mr Saneem said.

Members of the public are advised to only access credible information regarding the venues for voter registration on the FEO website and Facebook pages.

Those who are confused about any information relating to election, voter registration and polling venues are advised to contact FEO directly on 3316225.
