Sangam launches South Indian Cultural Book

The Then India Sanmarga Ikya (TISI) Sangam paid tribute to one of their members, Chalmaiya Chetty, during the launch of his ‘South Indian Cultural Book’ at Subrail Park in Labasa last Friday.
National TISI president Praveen Kumar received the first copy of the book from Mr Chetty’s son, Keswan Chetty.
The late Mr Chetty, from Tabucola, Labasa, was a dedicated member of the TISI Sangam Labasa and devoted his life to preserving the Hindi language and traditions.

Mr Chetty said the book illustrates the ideal path for South Indian families to lead a life of devotion.
“The book is a guideline to preserve our South Indian culture,” he said.
He thanked TISI for selecting this auspicious day to launch his late father’s book.
“My father meant the world to me and he always taught me to stick to my roots of being a South Indian and show proudness to our identity,” he said.
Mr Kumar highlighted that devoted individuals like the late Mr Chetty are true pillars of the TISI Sangam family and encouraged other members to follow his footsteps.
“The memorial day serves to inspire the new generation to become more like him.”
