Scam Alert!

Reports have emerged regarding an alarming rise in online scams targeting Fijians through the M-PAiSA platform.

After a woman in Nadi fell victim to a scam, additional victims have come forward, sharing their experiences of being deceived by individuals claiming to offer large sums of money in Available in selected Supermarkets. exchange for a small payment through M-PAiSA.

The police and various organisations have taken steps to raise awareness and provide tips to protect Fijians from falling victim to these scams.

One recent case, in a first of its kind, involved a man who appeared in court on charges of general dishonesty causing a loss.

He allegedly convinced a victim to make a $500 payment in order to receive a substantial amount of money. Following this incident, the police have become involved, working to increase awareness and educate the public on this matter.
