Scam alert: Fake Viber messages using police commissioner’s name under investigation

Police have stressed that this is a scam and are urging members of the public to remain vigilant.

The Fiji Police Force has warned the public to disregard and block messages from the number +679 836 9719, which is falsely claiming to be Commissioner of Police Rusiate Tuidravu and requesting sponsorship assistance.

The Criminal Investigations Department has confirmed it is investigating the circulation of these fraudulent Viber messages, which allege to seek funding for small projects.

Police have stressed that this is a scam and are urging members of the public to remain vigilant.

People are advised not to share personal information or respond to any such requests claiming to be from officials of either private or public organisations.
