School Given OK To Use ‘Promised Land’ To Feed Students
This was after the school principal Sakiusa Taginasedrau made the request known during a talanoa session.

Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama has given the green light for Queen Victoria School to use the ‘Promised Land’.
This is a 100 acre piece of land located behind the school.
This was after the school principal Sakiusa Taginasedrau made the request known during a talanoa session.

He said the late Ratu Sir Lala Sukuna had named the land area ‘Promised Land’ and did not allow it to be used.
But he assured Mr Bainimarama that the school would be able to feed its own students if they were given the opportunity to use this piece of land.
Currently the school has 3000 dalo tops on the ground thanks to the assistance from the Minister for Agriculture Mahendra Reddy.
Another issue raised by Mr Taginasedrau was the poor internet connectivity at the school.

While Matavatucou was able to access the internet through Digicel, the connectivity was said to often be unreliable.
He suggested that the fibre cable from Korovou extend to the school.
To this, a representative from Telecom said they would undertake a survey and inform the Ministry of Education about its cost.
