The Ministry of Education in a circular has reminded heads of schools that they are expected to be on duty during the school holidays.
The circular signed by Permanent Secretary Alison Burchell said: “It is important for you to be available at the school as there is often building or renovation work happening, textbooks being delivered and it is always possible that there will be a natural disaster occurring during the cyclone season.
“Please note that the General Orders state: ‘No acting allowance will be payable if absence from duty is in excess of 15 consecutive days.’”
