School heads pledge to lead with zeal

Head prefects intend to do their best

The head prefects of Lautoka Andhra College intend to do their best when leading their fellow students.

Krishneel Naickar, 17, and Shikha Chand, 17, were named headboy and headgirl respec­tively during the school’s induction.

Krishneel said he would be dedicatied and determined to carry out his responsibilities diligently.

“Students will need me to lead by example, so I am determined to commit and show dedi­cation to the students and teachers,” he said.

Shikha said hard work would drive her to become a good leader.

“I will continue working hard because I know success can be found through it and this will motivate me in succeeding at my role,” she said.

“I would like to thank all the teachers, my family and God for believing in me.”

The chief guest, Nur Bano Hassan, a retired school teacher, told the prefects that leader­ship remained an integral component of any school and as such the contribution by the school prefects and their willingness to fulfil leadership roles should be deeply applauded.

Sixty-nine students of Lautoka Andhra Col­lege were inducted as prefects.

Ms Hassan shared with the prefects her ex­periences on how she was always reliant on the prefects in the running of the school.

“In my many years of teaching career, I have relied upon prefects to assist in the smooth running of the school. This speaks volumes in itself,” she said.

“As with everything else in life, prefects you may run into some problems from time to time. Do not worry or panic - the school teachers are there to assist.”

She urged the College

“A leader is only as good as his or her team so please do cooperate with your class pre­fects,” Ms Hassan said.
