Forty-two students were inducted as prefects at Indira Gandhi Memorial Primary School in Suva, on Thursday.
The school’s headboy and his deputy, the headgirl and her deputy, ensure that the discipline of the students is their first priority. The school caters for 340 students and nine teachers.
Robert Hazelman, 12, of Rava, Savusavu, said he felt glad after being badged.

Previously he has served the school as the class captain, deputy headboy and now as the headboy.
“I was excited when I received the badge,” Robert said.
His parents encouraged him to do better in academic work and his headboy’s duties.
Vitalina Tinainamama, 13, of Nayavu village, Wainibuka, Tailevu said that so far she was the first child in the family to hold the badge as headgirl.
Vitalina was surprised when she was told she would be the headgirl for 2018.
“My parents were proud of me when they heard I was going to be the headgirl of the school”.
She said her view of leading by example was to respect everyone in the school.
