Sea Mystery: Search For Missing FV Tiro 2 Crew Suspended

After searching for over a week for the remaining 5 crew of FV Tiro 2, RCC Fiji has after careful consideration suspended the search.

This decision was not taken lightly and the following points were carefully considered before making the call:

- the number of days passed since those missing went overboard

- information received that none was wearing a life jacket

- the weather experienced within the search area during the search

- the distance of their last known position to the nearest point of land

- the vast area covered by both aerial and surface assets

We will continue to advise ships in the area for any sightings and RFNS Savenaca is still operating out of the area of interest.

Our team will continue to work with the Fiji Police Force and assist them with their investigations on circumstances surrounding this unfortunate case.
