Seaqaqa Advisory Councillor Advises Visitor Limitation

In light of the increasing COVID-19 transmissions in the Northern Division, visitations to certain settlements are advised to stop.

Amit Narayan, the Advisory Councillor for Nawai, Navudi, Lokobalate, Nasoni and Waimasi settlements in Seaqaqa, has strongly urged residents in these areas to refrain from engaging and allowing visitors into their homes.

Mr Narayan said with COVID-19 cases already spreading in some areas of Seaqaqa, he remains committed to ensuring that the areas under his responsibility were COVID-mitigated.

He said residents could travel to Labasa and Seaqaqa Town for their shopping and essential needs, but this should be done in the safest COVID-protected way possible.

“People who engage in grog sessions with members from outside their bubbles, need to rethink their priorities and halt such gatherings,” he said.

Mr Narayan said residents have to be wise and were advised to cancel all their social gathering events for the time being.

“We have children and residents who are still unvaccinated, so if COVID-19 reaches our settlements, the consequences can be deadly,” he said.

He added that people had to change their mindsets and realise the fact that the virus was a real medical phenomenon and adhere to public health orders in place.
