Second passenger dies following Buca Bay crash

The first passenger, Maciu Lovoni of Wakanilato Settlement, Macuata, died a few hours after the accident while receiving treatment at Labasa Hospital for head injuries.

A second passenger involved in a vehicle accident along Buca Bay, Cakaudrove, last Sunday has died.

Police spokesperson Sergeant Wame Bautolu confirmed that the 59-year-old man died at Labasa Hospital on Thursday night.

The first passenger, Maciu Lovoni of Wakanilato Settlement, Macuata, died a few hours after the accident while receiving treatment at Labasa Hospital for head injuries.

The second victim, Lovoni's brother-in-law from Vatudamu Village, Cakaudrove, was seated beside him in the vehicle at the time of the accident.

Sergeant Bautolu said four people, including the driver, were taken to Labasa Hospital following the incident. Two of the passengers have since died.

He said investigations are continuing.
