The High Court in Suva has postponed the sentencing of three former police officers facing manslaughter charges to October 17, citing unpreparedness.

The officers, Maciu Vakatuturaga, Joshua Bull, and Isireli Raseisei, appeared before Justice Thushara Rajasinghe last Friday, hoping for a ruling.

The charges stem from the alleged assault of Tikoivalenibula in February 2022, after he was brought to the Samabula Police Station for allegedly assaulting a 27-year-old mechanic while intoxicated. The injuries caused led to Tikoivalenibula’s death.

The three officers remain on bail.
