The Cakaudrove women’s rugby team is ready to defend Savusavu’s Ratu Ganilau Park when they face Kadavu in the final round of the promotion relegation on Saturday.
This was the view of Cakaudrove women’s rugby coach Ana Seru as they need the win to get promoted to the ANZ Marama Championship. Kadavu has recorded two wins and are now promoted.

Speaking to SUNsports yesterday, Seru said that they have identified their weaknesses and are working hard on it.
“We’re hopeful for a good outing on Saturday,” she said.

“We were supposed to win the final, but our decision making let us down. It was very costly for us. It was a painful loss.”
Seru said Kadavu has got very big forwards compared to them.
She said they would analyse the games that they played but she believes that they have a strong backline.
Asked about their preparation, Seru said: “We will not take Kadavu lightly. We’ll work on our attacks and defence and take over the Kadavu side,” she said.
The wily coach said they would look to utilising their backline more to score more points.
“We are still learning more about the game. I’m grateful for the keenness shown by the players to learn about the game and play their hearts out,” Seru added.
The Cakaudrove side had actually aimed to reach the Ranadi Cup final and now their focus is to be promoted to the Marama Championship.
“We have a few players already in talks with scouts for the Fijiana team. The focus now is to first win the game against Kadavu,” she said.
Seru said it was a relief that they were hosting as they would not have to fork out money for travelling expenses.
“Travelling really takes its toll on the players and also on our expenses. Again we will not underestimate the Kadavu team, but we will look to spoil the party and defend what’s ours by right- our home ground,” she added.
