Opposition leader Inia Seruiratu has requested the Speaker of Parliament, Filimone Jitoko for some funds to assist in rebranding.
Mr Seruiratu said as parliamentarians, they were to represent the people, being their voice, hear their concerns and things that they were content with.
This is one of the purposes of his four-day visit to Vanua Levu this week.

“Most importantly for me after serving as a government minister for two terms and then now leader of Opposition, I’ve looked at politics in Fiji,” Mr Seruiratu said.
“I’ve always talked about rebranding, so I requested the honorable speaker, if I can be given some funding, just to look at how the Opposition can connect better with the people, make them understand the role that we play and most importantly, how can we serve them better.”
He prefers to call it “meet and know your Opposition,” stating the Opposition plays a critical role in good and democratic governance, something that he knows through experience and observations.
“It’s something that I wanted to improve on, particularly as we are shaping our young democracy, hopefully that it will be better and sustainable in the long term,” he said.
“That’s the rebranding that I’m always after and together with the Office of the Speaker to Parliament, we will see how we can improve things, particularly with the role that the Opposition plays.”
He will compile a report to table to the Speaker and the line agencies of his visit and work carried out this week in the North.
