Unaisi Solaila, 35, is sewing her way to success.

The mother of two is one of the many successful recipients of the Fijian Government’s small and micro business scheme in 2017.

“I used the $1000 grant to buy a sewing machine and money I earn from sewing has really helped me cater for our house expenses,” Ms Solaila said.

“My customers are mostly my neighbours. Before I never used to take a lot of orders because I only have the sewing machine at work, but now I sew when I am at home.”

While she enjoys her success, she still faces many challenges.

“I am not really experienced but learning as the days go by. I make mistakes while sewing and have learned greatly from it,” she said.

“I would like to give youngsters employment opportunities so I want to expand my business.”

She thanked the Government for giving her an opportunity to do something she loves at home.
