Sheep farmer fears family safety
“First, they came and took seven sheep, then they took another three. Last Saturday, while I heard the sheep making noises outside, they managed to escape with another one. This leaves me with only nine sheeps to raise, which is a huge loss for us.”

A Baulevu sheep farmer is bewildered after 11 of his sheep were allegedly stolen from his farm situated right behind his home.
Yesterday Rohit Vikash Goundar, 44, expressed fear and concern about the risks these alleged robberies posed on their lives and family.
“I fear for the life of my son because the third time these robbers came to my house, I struck my cane knife twice on their car, before they drove away with the sheep. I’m scared they will come back for revenge or steal more,” he said.

Mr Goundar claimed three sheep were stolen on three separate occasions.
“I had 40 sheep altogether, 20 of which were killed by wild dogs,” he said.

Mr Goundar reported the matter at the Baulevu Police Post, but there were no response or follow up.
“This is the third time I asked for Police assistance and so far I haven’t received the help I need,” he said.
“Im pleading with Police to look into the matter because this is an ongoing issue in the area.”
Acting Commissioner of Police Operations, Livai Driu, while responding to questions based on 24- hourly shifts for officers at the post, said Police officers posted to community posts also conducted visitations.
“They conduct visitations house to house, beat patrol and attend to reports in their area of operations which is part of their duties as frontliners,” he said.
