The 56-year-old food delivery driver had just completed delivery on Monday, April 18, at around 9:45pm when the incident happened.

Mr Satavu hailed from Nahigatoka Village with maternal links to Laselase Village, Nadroga.

He had four children Marcus, Alexia, Ratu Meli and Adriu.

His sister Ruci Satavu said she wished that the death of her brother was a bad dream.

She said Mr Satavu was the second eldest of 11 children and was someone who was always there for them.

“My brother left Fiji in 1983 and the last time he came to Fiji was in 1996 for my wedding,” Ms Satavu said.

“He was someone we always looked up to because he was always there for us.

“Our families in Fiji are still trying to come to terms with the fact that he is no more. Adriu was the first-born son in the family, and he was helpful.

“We really miss our brother. We did not know that he would be taken so quickly from us. We pray that we forgive the person who shot our brother.”

Ms Satavu and their family gathered at their Nahigatoka Village home and watched a Facebook Live feed of their brother’s funeral yesterday morning.

“Watching my brother’s funeral on Facebook Live broke my heart. No one expected that my brother would be taken from us so quickly,” she said.

She said the last time she spoke to Mr Satavu was on Easter Sunday and she did not know that it would be the last time they would speak.
