Nunia Kawa never imagined becoming a National Fire Authority (NFA) officer, but when the opportunity presented itself, she embraced it wholeheartedly.

The former Penang Sangam High School student never regretted her decision. Her dedication paid off when she became the recipient of the Best Drill award during the NFA 2023 Firefighter Recruits passing out parade at the Republic of Fiji Military Forces Naval Division Togalevu Base yesterday.

Ms Kawa, 28 years old, hails from Navuniyavu in Bua, with maternal links to Naboutolu Village, Saivou in Ra.

She was one of nine women among the 82 recruits. She dedicated her award to her six-year-old daughter, Sera Serea Senikau.
