Saint Thomas Primary School newly appointed head boy, Sisa Bakewa, and head girl, Abigail Wilson, are ready to lead the school.

The Year Eight students were announced as leaders during the school’s prefect induction yesterday.

Sisa, from Macuata, said he was excited about his new role as head boy.

“I am happy to be chosen out of so many students to be the school’s head boy,” he said.

Abigal said she was looking forward to working with the teachers and students in maintaining discipline at all times.

“This year I will keep a close watch on the discipline of our students,” said the Samoan native.

Her mother, Judy Wilson, said together with her husband William, they were blessed to have the head teacher, Waisake Eceece’s support and that of the teachers and students.

“We thank them for having faith in our daughter’s ability and appointing her as the school’s head girl,” Mrs Wilson said.

“As a parent, it is exciting to have our daughter as the head girl and I thank the Lord for giving her the courage and to guide her with confidence.

“I also would like to thank the school officials for having faith in my daughter to carry out her role as head girl.”

Mrs Wilson said she would help manage her daughter’s time by balancing her school work and new leadership responsibilities.
