Six People Homeless After Morning Blaze In Labasa
The unemployed mother of two children, whose husband is a solider and is currently in Suva, said the estimated cost of damage was around $30,000.

Six people at Lowcost in Bulileka, Labasa, are homeless after their five-bedroom house was destroyed in a fire yesterday.
Laisa Vesikula, who has been living in this house for seven years, said the fire started around 11.30am.
“I was washing clothes when I heard my neighbours shouting that there was a fire inside the house,” Ms Laisa said.

“I quickly collected some of my household belongings and ran out.”

Home owner Arunesh Chand said he was shocked to hear that the fire destroyed three flats.
“My mother is away for holidays in Australia while I am in Suva. I bought the house in 2006 as an investment before moving with my family to stay at Waiqele in Labasa.”
The Labasa Fire Station confirmed the they attended to the fire call, but couldn’t save the property,” Mr Chand said.
Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro confirmed receiving the fire incident report.
