The Social Democratic Liberal Party (SODELPA) working committee has defied the sacking of its Member of Parliament and Minister for Education Aseri Radrodro.

The party has decided that Mr Radrodro will remain the Minister for Education until a decision is made during the SODELPA’s management board meeting next Friday, January 26.

Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka on Friday night dismissed Mr Radrodro for insubordination and disobedience.

His dismissal comes into effect on Monday, January 22, 2024.

During today's meeting, it was discussed that four resolutions would be further addressed in the upcoming management board meeting.

One resolution proposes Mr Rabuka stepping down as Prime Minister, with Manoa Kamikamica poised to assume the role.

Mr Radrodro, unaware of the reason behind his dismissal, heard it may be related to the removal of the then Fiji National University Council Chair, Dr Kesaia Seniloli.

He added that Mr Rabuka wanted him to reinstate Dr Kesaia.
