The Office of the Solicitor-General has strongly denied social media claims alleging that Solicitor-General Ropate Green has been charged with criminal intimidation and is due to appear in court.
In an official statement posted on the Office of the Attorney-General's Facebook page this morning, the office clarified that the individual named in the court matter was not Mr. Green, but another person who shares the same name.
“This claim is false, misleading, and defamatory,” the statement read.

The office emphasised that Mr Green has not been charged with any criminal offence and is not required to appear before any court.
“We urge members of the public, including public figures and social media users, to exercise greater responsibility when posting or sharing information online,” the statement continued. “Cross-checking facts before publication is important.”
The Office warned that the spread of unverified and false claims not only damages reputations but also undermines public trust in national institutions. It further noted that defamation whether intentional or through reckless disregard for the truth carries legal consequences.
“The Office of the Solicitor-General reserves all rights to pursue appropriate legal action to protect the integrity of the Office and the reputation of the SG,” the statement read.
