A Special Tribunal to investigate suspended Commissioner of Police, Brigadier-General Sitiveni Qiliho, and suspended Chief Justice Kamal Kumar is expected to provide the final findings no later than October.

Attorney-General Siromi Turaga said his office would be able to share more details soon, depending on how early the committee released its findings.

“They have already started sitting, the members of the tribunal,” Mr Turaga said.

“Hopefully by the end of September, there could be a finding.

“Once they finalise everything, then they will give an update.”

The proceedings can drag on for a year, he said.

“I have been advised it would come in September, no later than October. Where we could have the findings.”

Meanwhile, the tribunal members investigating suspended chief justice include Justice David Lewis, Justice Jiten Singh, Justice Filimone Jitoko, and Justice William Desmond Calanchini.

President Ratu Wiliame Katonivere suspended Chief Justice Kumar with full pay on the advice of Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka in January this year.
