Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka is steadfast in steering the nation forward despite speculation from some quarters within the coalition of a snap election.

It is understood that the election promise to make sweeping changes to the 2013 Constitution is a big factor.

Mr Rabuka on several occasions had spoken out against the Constitution claiming it was forced on the people.

Recent events such as the sacking of Aseri Radrodro as the Minister for Education, the failed Cabinet reshuffle and the alleged infidelity of two ministers, have rocked the coalition leadership less than 14 months in power.

With Mr Radrodro, from the kingmaker Social Democratic Liberal Party (SODELPA), demoted to the backbench, his loyalty to the coalition Government will easily be questioned. This, despite his assurance that he is committed to the coalition Government and wants to see them complete the four years.

Mr Rabuka downplayed the possibility of a snap election.

"It is something that can only happen after 18 months either on a motion of no confidence or a motion that will need a required majority."
