The Fiji Police Force is stepping up its watch on Fiji roads after 207 traffic offences were noted in 24 hours during the Easter holidays.

Police confirmed yesterday that the notices were issued for speeding between 6am on Sunday to 6am on Monday.

“Traffic officers will be out in numbers; however, the onus is on drivers to take necessary safety precautionary measures to avoid accidents. Accidents occur when road safety is taken lightly, when we turn a blind eye to road rules and laws, and when complacency sets in,” the force said in a statement said.

Police said the numbers included an incident where a 52-year-old man was arrested for drunk driving in Lautoka .
