State House opens for public tributes on Thursday

Once registered, members of the public will be given a confirmed time and are required to arrive at least 30 minutes early for a protocol briefing before being escorted to State House via the back gate.

Members of the public who wish to pay their last respects to former President Ratu Epeli Nailatikau, as he lies in state at the State House are invited to register.

The Ministry of Defence and Veterans Affairs said the viewing will be held at State House on Thursday, April 16, 2026.

Members of the public may register their interest at the ministry’s office at Block D, Berkley Crescent, Domain, Suva.

Registration bookings can be made through Ms Akata Mani on 9908524 or Mr Semi Qamese on 7866373.

Once registered, members of the public will be given a confirmed time and are required to arrive at least 30 minutes early for a protocol briefing before being escorted to State House via the back gate.

Limited parking is available at Berkley Crescent. Members of the public are encouraged to carpool or park at the seawall or Albert Park and walk or be dropped off.

Priority parking will be given to the elderly, people with disabilities and veterans.

Members of the public are also advised to dress appropriately.

Men are encouraged to wear sulu or trousers with sandals or closed shoes, a long- or short-sleeved shirt, and an optional jacket and tie.

Women are encouraged to wear similar attire, including sulu-i-ra, a sleeved dress or jaba in solemn colours.
