A total of 3445 students from various schools which were impacted by flooding caused by Cyclone Ana, have been assisted with stationery packs by the Foundation for Rural Integrated Enterprises & Development (FRIEND) Fiji in collaboration with Then India Sanmarga Ikya (TISI) Sangam Fiji.

FRIEND Fiji Founder and chief executive officer Sashi Kiran said they had received more than 2000 applications for help after Cyclone Ana.

She said 445 students from 21 schools in Rakiraki were assisted.

“This is after TISI Sangam conducted an assessment for their schools and reached out to other schools to help students in need. Management of schools had put up a request to FRIEND Fiji through TISI Sangam,” she said.

She said for many students, floodwaters had destroyed school items bought by their parents.

FRIEND Fiji has also been assisting people affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
