Police officers in the Western Division have been told to either step up to the demands of policing or resign.

The head of the Western Division issued the warning during his end of the fourth quarter divisional parade, addressing officers based in Rakiraki up to Sigatoka yesterday.

Divisional Police Commander Western, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Iakobo Vaisewa told officers to treat every report with the same level of importance and provide proper advice when needed.

SSP Vaisewa said people expect and demand Police officers to be more responsive, calling on officers to step up or resign if they cannot cope with the demands of policing.

He reminded officers under his command to mitigate complaints by ensuring strict compliance to processes and procedures.

“No report should be treated lightly, and proper advice should be given to the complainant, so they leave satisfied,” SSP Vaisewa said.

He also reiterated the Acting Commissioner of Police, Juki Fong Chew’s zero tolerance on officers involved in criminal activities, adding any officer found to be using their uniform for personal gain through illegal means will be dealt with accordingly.
