Stop kava abuse.

Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka said this during the opening of the Tailevu Provincial Council meeting at Vuci Village on Wednesday.

He urged people to refrain from excessive consumption of kava.

At the meeting, he also emphasised the rising incidence of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) in the country.

The council serves as a platform to tackle social issues within local communities.

Mr Rabuka stressed the need for village leaders to implement measures to regulate kava consumption.

He also highlighted the importance of empowering individuals to enhance their capabilities to navigate the challenges of this unprecedented time.

He said various issues had surfaced among Fijians, making a collective approach essential for improving lives and fostering resilience.

Mr Rabuka praised the province’s Strategic Development Plan, which aligned with the aspirations of the Government.

“The Tailevu Provincial Council will prioritise development this year. This is a crucial topic as we work towards our development goals. Strong leadership is vital for realising our aspirations,” he said
