Stranded Moce Villagers Want to Go Home

More than 40 villagers from Moce Island, in Lau who were here for a cricket tournament have been stranded in Suva since April.
They comprise of students and teachers from Moce Secondary School and are currently residing in Kinoya.
Speaking to the Fiji Sun yesterday, the team members said they were looking forward to returning home once travel restrictions ease.

“To be away from the village is not normal, especially when I am a farmer, but there is nothing I can do, but hope we will be able to go home soon,” Mr Tuiono said.
“I can’t wait to get the green light to go back.”
Yalofa Raratabu, 51, said he called his wife and children at every chance he got.
“I came to attend a workshop at Nadave for a week and then it was announced that we would not be able to go back to the village,” he said.
“This is the first time for me to be away from my family for a long time.”
Isimeli Sekona, 59, is encouraging Fijians to get vaccinated so they could go back to Moce.
