Strong Wind Warning for Fiji

The same weather pattern is expected over all the divisions and outer islands with possible isolated thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening on Saturday.

A strong wind warning is in place for all Fiji Waters over the coming weekend.

The Fiji Meteorological Services yesterday issued stern warning indicating that rough seas are expected to rise.

Sailors and fishermen are strictly advised to take precautionary measures and refrain from heading towards rough seas.

According to Fiji Met, an east to southeast wind flow is prevailing over the Fiji group with a trough of low pressure just to the South.

At around midday today, east to south eastly winds of 20 to 25 knots are expected with rough seas and moderate southerly swells.

Occasional showers and isolated thunderstorms are expected over: 

  •  Serua-Namosi;
  •  Navua-Suva-Nausori-Tailevu;
  •  Naitasiri, Ra-Rakiraki;
  •  Eastern Macuata;
  •  Southern Bua;
  •  Cakaudrove;
  •  Kadavu;
  •  Lau; and
  •  Lomaiviti groups.

Elsewhere will experience cloudy periods with showers and possible isolated thunderstorms, especially in the afternoon or evening.
