Students Falling Victims To Crime

Over the past year, 24,157 offences were recorded by the National Coordinating Committee on Children, which involved students.

This was revealed yesterday by the deputy secretary of the Ministry of iTaukei Affairs, Saimoni Waibuta. He shared these statistics during the opening of the Rewa Community Care workshop in Burebasaga Village, Rewa.

Mr Waibuta feels the iTaukei community must strengthen its values.

“We need to strengthen our  iTaukei values, the values that form the strong bond between the family and the communities in which we live,” he said.

“Our Fiji is undergoing rapid changes and, unfortunately, our values are changing and continues to be challenged.

“In as much as we would like to embrace these changes, it is also important to continue to uphold these values as they form the basis of a peaceful and a happy family.”
