The Fiji Navy, through the Rescue Co-ordination Centre (RCC) Fiji, was alerted to a medical distress on the high seas by JRCC Honolulu.

As a result of co-ordinated efforts and planning, Navy Forward Base West (FBW) personnel, together with Emergency medicine doctors from the Aspen Medical-managed Lautoka Hospital, were conveyed by pilot boat to the cargo ship MV Ever Lunar.

Despite challenging weather conditions and three metre-plus high swells, the co-ordinated patient retrieval was safely conducted just over three nautical miles from Navula Passage outside of Momi Bay yesterday.
