Survivor Of Ferris Wheel Mishap Recalls Incident

The survivor of the tragic Ferris wheel accident at the Laucala Bay Fiji Showcase last Friday recounted the horror incident. Ravina Reshma fell from the moving Ferris wheel with her daughter Supriya Reshma Sharma.
“The first two rounds were fine, but then it started spinning faster. It was so rapid that our legs didn’t touch where they were supposed to be. Suddenly, I saw my daughter sliding down,” she said.
“I called out to the operator to stop because my daughter had fallen, but instead of slowing down, it accelerated. Next thing I knew, Komal was thrown forward, and I was thrown backwards.”

She described it as the most terrifying experience of her life that no one else should endure.
“I wish there had been an ambulance at the venue, considering it was a significant event where anything could happen,” she said.
Miss Supriya, 19, will undergo surgery next Monday.
Unfortunately, Komal Kavita Kumar, 21, lost her life as a result of the tragic mishap. Harish Vivek Kant Sharma only wished he was allowed to transport the three victims to the hospital Mr Sharma believes his intervention could have saved Kumar.
Mr Sharma is the husband of Mrs Reshma and their daughter is Ms Supriya who were victims of the accident.
“At 3.41pm, I received a call to tell me about my wife’s involvement in an accident. I reached the venue at 3:55pm and ran towards where they lay,” Mr Sharma said.
“I approached a police officer and a lady from the Total Event Company to allow the three victims to be taken to hospital in my vehicle. Unfortunately, they denied my request.
“Probably Komal might have been saved. The doctor told me later that if she had arrived a bit earlier, her life could have been saved.
“The ambulance arrived an hour after the accident occurred. They had to forcefully open the emergency exit because no one had the key.” The Ministry of Labour is investigating the accident.
