Lymphoma cancer survivor Sugandha Goswami, 30, is now living her life to the fullest.

She was 29 years old at the time and went through six chemotherapies and magnetic resonance imaging.

She said she was shocked and scared because she knew some people did not survive cancer.

“This journey has made me feel appreciative of everything, I do not take things for granted,” she said.

The 30-year-old was the youngest among the 27 cancer survivors who celebrated a second chance in life on World Cancer Day on Friday.

Survivor:

Salome Virewa believes that through the grace of God, she received a second chance in life.

The mother-of-four children who resides in Laucala Beach, Suva said: “The road was not easy for me to go through six cycles of chemotherapy.

Ms Virewa was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in 2019. She was scared when she found out and decided to run to her village in Lautoka from the Hospital.

“The aftermath of chemotherapy had unbearable pain.

“It was a tough time for me but my family was always there.”

Ms Virewa’s message to people is that if you have symptoms do not be afraid to go to the hospital.

“You cannot fight alone. You need the doctors and the Fiji Cancer Society for encouragement,” she reiterated.

The event was organised by the Suva Cancer Survivors group at the Kanalevu Kitchen in Laucala Bay Rd in Suva.
