Suva bus station project nears completion

Thousands of commuters into Suva City can anticipate a safe and more convenient travel with a major upgrade of the Suva Bus Station almost completed.
The Suva City Council (SCC), in partnership with the Fiji Roads Authority, started the major rehabilitation project in February 2025.
The aim of the project has been to improve the conditions at the busy transport hub while keeping disruptions to a minimum.

The work was carefully planned and carried out in phases, each one focused on solving long-standing problems like flooding and unsafe road surfaces.
SCC acting chief executive officer Tevita Boseiwaqa said the council was pleased with how smoothly the work had progressed, despite a few unexpected delays.
The SCC looks forward to the opening of the newly improved bus stand to the public soon.
“People will no longer have to deal with the poor drainage and dangerous road conditions that have been a problem for so long,” Mr Boseiwaqa said.
“This project shows our strong commitment to making public transport safer and more comfortable for everyone.”
He also praised the FRA for its important role in the project. Skills and teamwork were key to getting the job done.
Once fully completed, commuters can look forward to a new and improved Suva Bus Station that meets their needs and makes daily travel easier and safer.
