Police are investigating the discovery of hundred of  packaged syringes washed ashore at Rifle Range, Vatuwaqa.

Resident Pita Simpson reported the find, citing concerns about Fiji's escalating drug crisis.

Acting Commissioner of Police Sakeo Raikaci called the incident "extremely concerining" and urging stricter syringe sales monitoring.

The discovery raises fears of misuse, including 'bluetoothing', a dangerous drug-sharing practice.

Concerns also emerged over officers handling the syringes without proper gear, promting a safery protocol reminder.

Authories are working to trace the syringes' origin as the alarming find highlights broader drug-related challenfes in the country.
