The People’s Alliance leader Sitiveni Rabuka has personally selected Lynda Tabuya and Daniel Lobendahn as deputy leaders for the party.
Mr Rabuka said they would bring new ideas to the party.
“They are mostly my own instincts as I did for Manoa, we have gone along this way, everything will be verified by the board when we get to it,” he said.

“For now, we have no time to be conducting meetings, we have got to be hitting the ground running and that’s what we are doing.
“There can be objections to these appointments but my word counts and my word is final at every stage of the development of the party.
“I am not dictating, but running it from the beginning and then everything is handed over to the party where it will decide. At the moment I will form a team that will win the party mandate and then we will go from there.”
Ms Tabuya said she was grateful to Mr Rabuka for recognising the need for the refreshing and positive change.
“By launching me in this political path as the party leader you have demonstrated the paramount value you place in women and youth leaders as decision makers,” Ms Tabuya said.
“Women and youths matter and all we need is the right platform and the right leader to get us there.”
The party will announce its second batch of provisional candidates today.
