Tabuya’s disciplinary hearing today

The People’s Alliance party (PA) National Legal and Disciplinary Sub-Committee will convene today to address the explicit video of their former deputy party leader Lynda Tabuya.

Ms Tabuya was dismissed on Thursday by Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka following an explicit video of her dancing was leaked on social media on Christmas Eve.

Ms Tabuya admitted to the authenticity of the video and claimed it was for her husband, Robert Semaan.

The Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption in an investigation earlier this year established that Ms Tabuya’s marriage to Mr Semaan was formally and legally dissolved in December 2016.

 

Update
Mr Rabuka will join virtually via Zoom from Savusavu where he will update the committee on the legitimacy of the decision that led to the dismissal of one of Coalition Government’s top Cabinet Minister.

Ms Tabuya has the polling capital. In 2022 General Election, she secured 11,965 votes – the fourth highest.

 

Disciplinary hearing
Mr Rabuka initiated a disciplinary hearing on Christmas Day after PA received several complaints against the explicit video.

Mr Rabuka said the committee had 21 days to deliberate and respond on the matter.

A special party’s People’s management committee and People’s Executive Committee meeting.

“I will be attending the meeting virtually by zooming in from Savusavu tomorrow,” Mr Rabuka said

“The chairman or acting chairman will also update on how they had progressed with the case,” he said.

Mr Rabuka has referenced his decision as constitutional.
