Taveuni Buses Limited has suspended its service to parts of the Garden Island, citing pathetic road conditions.

This has resulted in children having to walk or travel by horseback to school.

Taveuni Buses Limited manager Prakash Sami said the atrocious road conditions had been raised with the Fiji Roads Authority (FRA) and the Land Transport Authority (LTA), but it seemed the complaints had fallen on deaf ears.

“I have suspended all bus service to Bouma and Lavena because these roads are unsafe for our passengers and our drivers,” Mr Sami said.

“I no longer can take more risk to continue operating bus services on these bad roads.

Meanwhile, questions have been emailed to LTA and FRA and they are yet to provide responses.
