A new platform will be launched soon where teachers can express grievances which need the Education Ministry’s attention.

Minister of Education, Heritage and Arts Premila Kumar revealed this during a handover ceremony at Ratu Simione Matanitobua Secondary School in Lobau, Navua yesterday. It was the handing over of items provided by the Government of Korea.

Ms Kumar reminded teachers to also make use of the Teachers Talanoa Platform which was launched earlier this month.

“Please take advantage of the Teachers Talanoa Platform. This is where you can talk to other teachers and give new ideas,” the minister said.

“This platform is to create a check and balance system to improve the education system in the country. There will be a new platform where teachers can express their grievances that may need the ministry’s attention.”

Ms Kumar reminded teachers to keep the equipment donated by the Korean Government in good condition. The equipment included spades, fork, overhead projector, and science models. The Korean Government donated about $500,000 worth of equipment to be distributed to schools.

“I request that the school enter these items in the school inventory so that it does not disappear or be misused,” she said.
